New Brunswick, New Jersey, is located in Middlesex County, which has one of the higher rates of drug use in the state. While alcohol ranks highest among residents for substance abuse treatment admissions, with 2,157 of all entries, other drugs like benzodiazepines still affect the region as well. A vast majority of treatment admission were men, coming in at 69 percent, with women at 30 percent, data show. The overwhelming majority of care they sought was outpatient at 43 percent. The most common age group to seek treatment was 35-44, with
1,265 individuals seeking treatment in that age range in 2019.
According to the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), benzodiazepine-involved overdose deaths decreased from 2017 to 2019. While that may seem like great news, by 2019, the illicit benzodiazepine supply increased, translating to a rise in fatalities. From 2019 to 2020, benzodiazepine overdose visits increased 23.7 percent. The CDC says 34.4 percent of those were without the presence of another drug, while another 21 percent involved something else. From April to June 2019 to April to June 2020, benzodiazepine-involved overdoses increased 21.8 percent and a staggering 519.6 percent. From January through June 2020, 92.7 percent of deaths involved opioids.

Intensive Outpatient
Once you wrap up a stint in partial care, you’ll be moved into an intensive outpatient program, the next step in your journey toward recovery in benzodiazepine detox and treatment in New Brunswick. Fortunately for you, these sessions take place with fewer people than other support groups. This means you’ll have more time to speak with the clinician and develop methods to deal with triggers, and help you fight your addiction outside the walls of treatment.

During your stay in IOP, you’ll be expected to reach specific milestones. Once achieved, the requirements of the session will be reduced until the program is complete.
